AN ENGRAVED WHITE-METAL, GILT AND NIELLO MOUNTED SHASQUA SABRE,
Southern Russia circa 1890, with heavily cleaned (or possibly replaced) 30in. lightly curved blade, twin narrow fullers to the back of blade, spatulate tip, the hilt of classic form with each side separated into three panels of floral and scroll engraving with niello borders, the seams and front edge of hilt with applied white-metal ball decorated ribbons (center of hilt creased with repairs, some deformation to pommel 'ears'), complete with its en-suite scabbard, re-inforced at drag and throat and with two central carved bands with raised bosses (one boss dented), strong traces of gilding to the engraving background
